P.K. Yonge Developmental Research School, directly affiliated with the University of Florida's College of Education since 1934, is conveniently located within walking distance of Innovation Square. It is one of the few remaining tuition‐free K through 12 university laboratory schools in the nation. Dedicated to maintaining academic excellence and providing a well‐rounded educational experience for students, P.K. Yonge is distinguished from other public schools by its commitment to designing, testing, and disseminating progressive educational models and hosting hundreds of visiting teachers and administrators each year.

P.K. Yonge is an intimate school with students from Kindergarten through 12th grade. Serving 1,100 demographically diverse students that come from 31 cities in and around Gainesville, P.K. Yonge is a family atmosphere where students' names, needs and interests are known by teachers and administrators alike. In addition, P.K. Yonge's extended family and alumni are involved and active in supporting and growing the school's future. P.K. Yonge's academic achievement consistently exceeds state averages while maintaining award winning programs in visual arts, performing arts, and athletics. P.K. Yonge has been awarded an “A” by the Florida Department of Education for 10 consecutive years and maintains a high school graduation rate of 96%.

High school academic offerings include a combination of Advanced Placement and Honors classes. Dual enrollment options at Santa Fe College and the University of Florida, as well as Executive Internships in the workplace allow juniors and seniors to acquire college credit and job experience as a part of their high school education. To round out the educational experience at P.K. Yonge, graduation requirements include community service hours and a senior project. Also at P.K. Yonge, it's elementary and middle school students also participate in technology‐facilitated project‐based learning units to enhance their experience. P.K. Yonge also provides an array of extended learning opportunities for students offering annual multi‐day trips, extensive athletics, extracurricular activities, and annual celebrations.

P.K. Yonge is a motivated and energetic academic community, which is always seeking opportunities to develop educational models for learning beyond today. Its teachers and administration are collaborating with the University of Florida College of Education researchers to investigate the relationship between digital resources, classroom activities and face‐to‐face learning with a view to providing an educational experience relevant to today's and tomorrow's world. P.K. Yonge's programs are designed and delivered in partnership with the university, the local community, and beyond to produce well‐rounded young adults with exponential potential.
